On Behalf of | May 3, 2023 | CFP Board

The Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards has announced that it is seeking candidates for its Board of Directors, the organization’s policymaking and oversight body.

The CFP Board said it has begun accepting applications from those interested in serving on the Board of Directors, which is the governing authority for the CFP Board Center for Financial Planning and the Board of Directors and sole voting members of CFP Board of Standards.

The CFP Board said its nominating committee is looking for individuals who will complement the skills and experience of the current board members.

Among the characteristics sought in potential candidates are that they are a client-facing CFP® practitioner, and a public member with financial regulatory and/or enforcement background.

The Board of Directors is responsible for furthering the CFP Board’s mission and acts on behalf of the public, CFP® professionals and other stakeholders. Those on the board serve three-year terms, and each year, two to four new Board positions are available. There are currently 14 members, including four public members.

The CFP Board noted that its commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion extends to all levels of the organization, including the Board of Directors, adding that “the Board of Directors should reflect a collective mixture of human and organizational assets including race, color religion, national origin, age, sex, disability, veteran status or sexual orientation.”

The deadline for submitting a completed application is June 9 for terms that will begin in January 2024.
